Introduction
Hello! I’m Lisa, a Licensed Psychological Associate (LPA) in Anchorage, Alaska. I have been a psychotherapist since 1996. I began my career in Fairbanks, Alaska, continued in Washington state, then Minnesota, and returned to Alaska to settle down in 2006.

My style of counseling is conversational with a strengths-based, trauma-informed approach. I specialize in treating trauma, PTSD, Complex-PTSD, anxiety, depression, parenting support, relationship issues, ADHD, and religious trauma.
I also offer Brainspotting (click to learn more about it). I rely heavily on evidence-based practices, interpersonal neurobiology, and attachment theory. I utilize all I have learned throughout my 28 years as a counselor to support you in developing a more fulfilling life.
I worked as a play therapist for 23 years before limiting my counseling practice to adults. I now use my experience counseling children as a Parent Coach. In addition to my professional experience, I have the personal experience of raising two neurodivergent children and understand the unique challenges it brings.
(I no longer provide play therapy).
Make sure you
really
connect.
It’s important to find a counselor who helps you feel safe, comfortable, open, and supported.
It may take a few sessions before we find our rhythm with each other.
Also, therapy can be challenging — it may sometimes feel painful.
Finding someone you can share your feelings, experiences, hopes, and setbacks without judgment helps to ease the pain of it.
IN-PERSON OR TELEHEALTH : I am offering appointments in person (Anchorage) and via telehealth (at https://doxy.me/lawsoncounseling). See Contact page for more details about hours, location, and current availability.
